I remember Ken well from Lulworth, where we were both Corporals before he got promoted to Sergeant. There was always something distant about him, though we got on well enough. Was it not the fantasy of every Junior Leader, of every soldier, through the ranks, to one day reach the rank of Lt. Colonel. I know that I had that dream

I guess you have to leave a lot of sentiment behind you on that incredible journey.
