Arnie,
that e-mail address does not work.
I had already sent my address to you on your other e-mail and it didn't come back, so should have arrived. Will send it again via a pm on this site, so if they have your actual address you should get it shortly.

Re: fuel
Arnie,
that's not Bob as such, though he did set the system up. That's the private mail (pm) system. If you want to send a message to anybody just click on their name and you get all sorts of options about how to contact that person, without actually having their address.
Also, if you have, in your own personal 'set up', opted for it, you get a copy of your own message as confirmation that it's gone out. Now the only thing that can go wrong is that the recipient may not have updated their own e-mail address .
Remaining 'on topic', this is a very 'energy saving system'. Just think that poor Bob would have to receive and forward everybody's messages, not to mention that he could see everything that people send to each other .
As usual Bob got it right .

Re: fuel
Now, with all the small fuel firms have gone bust. The big boys are now taking the piss.
I was paying £100 a month, (duel fuel). Then 2 weeks ago, a standing order for £167 was set up. Today they have upped this, they now want £244.58.
We use gas and lecky less than ever. Not only is tsar Putin holding us to ransom, but british big boys are doing the same. You can't even switch, they (the big firms) are all the same.
How many people, old and young are going to queue up at the pearley gates this winter.
And our Westminster warriers don't give a damn

Re: fuel
John,
at this rate all that I can suggest is: move to Spain !
You might remember that back in the 60's lots of old people did exactly that for the same reason: It was cheaper to spend winter in Spain than to pay the heating bills at home.
A fully equipped holiday home can be had 'out of season' for 3-500 pounds per month. Winter here, near the coast, occasionally still gets down to almost zero at the darkest part of the night, but by 0900, on 90% of the days the sun has our terrace up to about 15 and 20 by midday.
Should you decide to live full time in Spain there's another bonus ... There is no tax on 'state service pensions', i.e. teachers, nurses, police and military pensions do not get taxed. If your 'other pensions' add up to less than 20k, there is no tax on them either. If, like me, your other pensions are less than 14k, you don't even need to fill in a tax return .
For Brit's it has become somewhat more complicated to become a Spanish (European) Resident, but a good solicitor will sort that out for around 200 quid.
You can buy a reasonable holiday home for 50 - 100k and for 200k you can buy some very nice properties within 20 km from the coast. Life is what you make of it .

Re: fuel
Thanks for the advice Bill. But being an old bald git, with celt and nordic genes (not levies ) I can't stand hot weather. When it gets above 70 I just melt.
I think I'll stick with this country, the great place I live, England. It may have a lot of faults, but it's still a good place to live.
Even the westminster warriors can't change that, as much as they would like to.

Re: fuel
Hi Fellas
Regarding fuel companies before this crisis I Had changed to Brit Gas from EON as they were cheaper. My monthly direct debit was £63.90 thats £766 year. Then came the changes I contacted Brit Gas and they offered me a FIXED rate for the next 12 months Gas/Elec £88.16 a mth £1.057 year
Thats an increase of £291 a year which compared to all the others I felt was v/good and its a fixed rate till Nov 2022
So suggest you shop around boys I may not use as much fuel as you northerners plus we have a Multi fuel stove burner which when I light it 2nd week in Nov stays in till April next year so the gas boiler very seldom kicks in. I mainly burn wood which I collect around the countryside and dry in the man shed. If I see any pallets laying about the residents let me rescue them make good kindling burns well.
Take care keep safe hope to go to the SW Ramnugger Reunion in Dorchester on 20th Nov so long as I can get a lift.
