army cuts

Post by john kerwin »

What do all you old hawks make of these new cuts to the army. 10000 fewer boots on the ground   . That will leave the UK with the smallest army for 200 years.

Will they ever learn. Cuts left us in the crap in 1914, and again in 1939. How will the UK defend our island or the overseas lands that depend on us.

With China Iran and the Russians, all sabre waving. Even the EU seems to hate us. What's the saying. History repeats its self.

Guess we should all be learning Chinese or Arabic. Or stock up on white flags.

The Government say they are saving money, yet they spend £200.000  to do up a flat for the PM ???. What a load of bull s***.

But never mind. We have the scout and guides. :D :D

Yes difficult to understand the logic in this present climate You can have all the Tech Weapons in the world but in the end you need boots to hold the ground you have taken. :x

It's 10 years to the day they announced these would be the last cuts. Boris madea a statement 18 months ago saying no more cuts, have we any tanks left they say that they are cutting them down in numbers it's shocking. What are the odds on the smart weapons he promises to be built by a company with strong links to the Tories.

I'm mildly surprised that the government is not getting quotes from China for the new tanks...yet! Cheers, Syd.

Ok, ok,

Tony, in political language 'cuts' refers to money, not people. Money is being spent = no cuts !
Rather a Tory run company than a Labour = trades unions run company, remember the would be King, Arthur Scargil ?

I bet the heroes of yesteryear were pretty pissed off when the sling-shot, lance, sword, bow & arrows, muskets & horses all disappeared.
Does anybody really want another 'Charge of the light brigade' ?
The dangers (enemies) of today are not soldiers on horseback or tanks !

"An army marches on its stomach": if the supply lines get cut no fighting force can last for long, ask Hannibal or the Spartans and just so many armies who's names never even reached the history books.

If high tech can cut off our electricity supply at home and the people can't function, the army dies on the battlefield = what use soldiers ?
If we can cut off their power supplies, with a computer or a drone, the same thing happens to them .

It's the same with the supply of water. Turn off your own mains tap and see how long you last . No electricity = no water & no sewage expulsion = you're all in the shit :(.

All we can hope for is that a new drone unit will be called 'The Cavalry of the Clouds' (as was the Para Sqn RAC); but don't expect them to get there on time, nothing changes   .

All the same, I'm with you Mick. Without boots on the ground you can't hold territory.

So, if we get attacked, Nuke the suckers and we won't want our boots on their ground ! Job done with minimal losses ;).
All we need is the will to use the tools .

Hi Yall,

Bill its simpler than that!
The most dangerous threat is China. In 1971 when I was FINCO on the Hong Kong border the figures for the CCA were 2,000,000 Standing army, 10,000,000 Armed Militia ( People armed and ready to go, weapons at home), 200,000,000 unarmed militia. God knows what it is now. Thinking at the time was fighting the Western Powers they wouldn't have to fire a shot. Scenario - First day of war, 1,000,000 CCA surrender, so how would the western powers manage the POW's, feed them, guard them and all the rest of the kerfuffle needed to abide by the Geneva (or any other) Convention. Second day 2,000,000 surrender. And so on until WE surrender. No shots fired.
All the above is not taking into account the western powers will have to contend with all the brain-washed youth of of their own countries causing mayhem at home. :D :) :D :) :P :?:

Arnie :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Could this be the long term effects of the cocaine war ?
First get them high then go all soft and full of remorse and wait for the dragon to awake

Good to see you're still clear in the head, best to Brenda.

PS: Did you notice 'hear hear' he's still learning .
