UK PM Sunak calls snap general election

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has called a surprise early general election for July. Wednesday’s announcement sets the scene for a contest that will see Labour’s Keir Starmer attempt to take power after 14 years of Conservative-led government. The prime minister said that his decision to call a vote was primarily motivated by economic factors, stating that “things are not easy” for many Britons. He states,“For so many of us it is easy to forget the scale of what we have been through,” he said, citing the Covid-19 pandemic and the Ukraine conflict as reasons for Britain’s stubbornly high inflation rate and rising cost of living.
Sunak’s Conservative Party has been in power since 2010, with Sunak leading the country since October 2022, when he won a leadership contest to succeed Liz Truss. However, the Conservatives have trailed the Labour Party in opinion polls since late 2021, and earlier this month suffered their worst local election defeat in 40 years.

World Economic Forum (WEF) founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab has announced he will step back from his role, after more than 50 years at the head of the event. Established by Schwab in 1971, the WEF is a nonprofit foundation and its annual gathering in Davos is the world’s biggest annual business and economics event. It operates much like a “family business,”. Schwab’s children have been appointed to high-ranking positions and his wife Hilde heads the organization’s foundation and awards ceremonies in Davos.
The report also described the WEF as a “remarkable business,” which brought in nearly $500 million in revenue in the year ending March 2023, and “had a neat 200 million Swiss francs ($220 million) sitting in cash.”

The next good news I am waiting on is Trudeau calls it quits!

As far as cancer goes I've already had it, and beat it. I got in when I lived in the U.S. They found it on a Friday and operated on the following Monday.
Six months of chemo, then six months of radiation, was good to go! Funny enough, a can of Gunniuss was recommended daily as part of the recovery process! Gotta love the Irish!

Today's news out of the U.S., the Yanks are giving the Minister of Defence, Bill Blair, a blast of shit, 23 of them! for not spending 2 percent of G.D.P. on the military. Canada hasn't spent any substantial amounts of money on its military in over 55 years!

All these pricks who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths, and never had to go and dig ditches for a living, are resigning, quitting, or just not committed to running again. I read some 120 M.P.s are throwing in the towel!
It's time for the British Public to unload these slipper lickers and the European Union. The U.K. needs to go back to being a sovereign country where it makes its own decisions, without interference from Washington or Brussels.
