Frank Smith - Live webcast available
Occasionally it is not enough to merely record the passing of a Hussar friend.
Frank Smith passed away on 2nd September 2023
14th/20th King's Hussars 1965 - 1987
This is of course the Noah's Arc website, and we have lost one of our greatest supporters. Frank has been our Admin and lead writer on our Facebook account "The Home of the 14th/20th King's Hussars" for longer than I care to remember. He has been our Archivist, our Announcer, our Oracle, our Friend. He has given so much of his life to helping others in their own hours of need.
Frank has been hospitalised for several months and we have been lucky to have had Peter Farrell, with his regular visits, in keeping us informed of how Frank was faring. Sadly, after such a brave fight, we have all lost a friend.
We offer our condolences to daughter Gaynor and family.
Rest in Peace Frank
The Funeral of Frank will take place on Friday 20th October at 1530 hrs at
Dukinfield Crematorium
Hall Green Road
Dukinfield

Followed by a gathering to celebrate his Life at

Re: Frank Smith
I served with Frank for the majority of my 25 years with the regiment, and like everyone else I admired Frank and although we mostly served in different sqns I always enjoyed the times we were together.
The highlight for me, was when I took over as SSM from Frank at Catterick. As usual Frank had everything very well organised and it was mostly just a change of faces behind the desk and I found little that needed changing. Someone said to me the first thing you do when you take over is to move the desk !! In this case I did,nt even have to do that .
I firmly believe that Frank was in a major way resposible - along with a few others - for the huge growth in the amount of members that carry on the traditions of the 14/20th to the present day.
You will be sadly missed Frank
RIP

Re: Frank Smith
How very sad it was to hear of Franks passing from two old Hawk friends who thought that l really aught to know and so mailed me directly.
Not being on FB, l now feel privilaged to offer my condolences, here on Noahs ARC, to his family and loved ones.
Like Johnny Morris, l was never in the same troop as Frank, but when circumstances caused us to have to work together it was always a pleasure and a positive experience. Frank was a guy who l deeply respected for his calm, efficient, competence and professionalism.
Rest in Peace Frank Smith

This is very sad news indeed!
Frank was a much loved and respected member of the ARC and has been a great support to myself, previous ARC committees and all associated with 14/20H.
His efforts with announcements, knowledge of the regiment, its history and members etc were greatly appreciated and he will be very much missed.

Re: Frank Smith
I have known and been friends with Frank since he joined the Regiment in 1965 in Benghazi, two Sprogs together !
Our friendship carried on in civvy Street, until he sadly left us.
We had known and been friends for around 58 years ! and, in Civvy Street, became fellow Admins on the 14th/20th Facebook sites .
We worked tirelessly on these sites to keep the Regiment’s name alive.
When he was hospitalised and I visited him, we just talked incessantly about the Regiment. He spent, I believe around 165 days in various Hospitals.
He was moved from one to another culminating in his very sad passing, at Willow Wood Hospice in the early hours of Saturday 2nd September, with his lovely Daughter Gaynor by his side !
I take comfort, if there is any to be had, that he is at peace, without pain, and together again with his beautiful wife, Brenda.
He has left a big hole in my, and many others lives !
The Mark of the man reflects in the unprecedented number of posts of condolences posted on our Facebook Pages, they were red hot when his passing was announced.
Frank was awarded the Regimental Rosette in 2019 for his work with Noah’s ARC and liaising with HHQ.

Rest in Peace Sir,
Met Frank in Hohne, I think he was D sqn SQMS, I was a NIG in B sqn.
Always respected him from day one to the end.
That tank park upstairs will be clean and well organized by now.
