We've received the following message:
Its with great sadness to inform you all that my fantastic caring loving father Cpl Frederick Michael George Elgie who served 24 years in the 14/20 KH passed peacefully away at home surrounded by his family. RIP dad 😪.
Mick will be remembered for his service to the Officers' Mess.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday 19th August, at 10:30hrs, at the Long Barrow Ceremony Hall, Harbour View Crematorium, Randalls Hill, Poole, BH16 6AN. It will be followed by a reception at the Purbeck Tea Room, Harbour View Crematorium, Randalls Hill, Poole, BH16 6AN.

What an odd lot we Hawks are !
Here is a guy who, by all accounts, served 24 years in our regiment and nobody can remember him ?
I don't, well not really, though the grey matter tells me I know the name ...
Clearly his family thought the world of him, so he can't have been all that bad, even if he did serve in the ossifers mess.

Service details: My father served in 14/20th kings hussars for 36 years. He was cpl David John blocke regimental farrier retired in 1982 died in 2012 army number 23173407

Hi mick,
I rember you and your family, I went to school with you in hohne, and you and your brother often came to our house. I remember your dad working in the officer's mess at schools bredebrek, he was a quiet well mannered man, then you all returned to the UK, I recall your younger brother's nick name was eggie he was in my sister's year at school.
So sorry to hear of your dad passing, it's been 11 years since my dad lost his battle to cancer. Take care Angela :cry:
