I didn't want to be the first with this topic, but if nobody else will...

RiP your Majesty, thank you for a lifetime of selfless service to our country and the Commonwealth. Your example has truly been exemplary.
God save the King !

As usual Bill, I agree with you. I was slow in being the first, because I found out I had the Dreaded Kung Flu. Disappearing now but I still have two days more days of self-flagellating. then the day after I got it Brenda tested Positive!!

She was the finest Monarch, nicest, most loving mother, not just to her family but to the hundreds of millions around the world who worshipped her. Rest in Peace, Dear Lady.

Hi Yall, received this by email yesterday. Too good to not share with you all.

Queen Elizabeth II
21/04/1926 - 08/09/2022

As I address the nation
From here, beyond the sky
I know you cannot hear me,
I'm here, I see you cry.

But do not weep my children,
Be brave and dry those tears,
Now it is my time to rest,
Having reigned for 70 years.

My duties are complete now,
I've seen my final dawn,
My family surrounds me,
My country starts to mourn.

And now I join my Phillip,
Together hand in hand,
A picnic in the clouds,
As I leave behind this land.

Farewell, my dearest people,
I leave with no regret,
Thank you, for everything,
Your Queen, your Lilibet.

(Haydee Waldron Jones 08/09/2022)

Where did I put those tissues??

My wife & I were married just two days after Princess Elizabeth became our Queen, only four years older than us, it seemed at the time so unfair that, not only had she lost a beloved father, she should be thrust into such a task so young. A few months later (might even have been April 1st.) and I was on my way to Hadrian's Camp at Carlisle, wondering why, having spent five years in engineering, I was heading for the RAC (and eventually the Regiment.) We did, however, have a grand parade for her Coronation with the Co. standing in for HM. We forgave her, of course, but not him! Throughout her reign, Our Queen had this wonderful smile. The day always seemed a bit brighter if the morning paper carried a picture of her and over the the years our loyalties, respect and affection just grew. We only ever saw her on two occasions, First with Prince Phillip on the Exeter bypass, when they did a tour of the West Country to mark her 25th anniversary. Second when she visited Bridgwater in '85, to open a shopping mall and perhaps forgive the locals for supporting the Duke of Monmouth back in 1685! My office window overlooked the High Street, so we all had a great view. Now she is gone. The only 'Dear Leader' I ever recognised, or wanted. We've shed a few tears and I guess there'll be more, but truly she was Elizabeth the Great. RiP indeed.

I've been blessed with having met Her Majesty on three occasions.

In Westminster Abbey, at the wedding of HRH The Princess Anne;

In HQ 1st British Corps;

Linda and I were invited for dinner at Villa Lemm in West Berlin.

Every occasion is a memory undying.

RIP

Hi Bob,
Saw HRH when she landed at RAF Gatow and again at the parade on the Maifeld. Both times from a distance I may add.
May she rest in eternal peace.

I saw the Queen when she came to Hull to open the new H R I in 1967
Her car stoped along side me as she was leaving.
Footnote.
The car dealer I worked for had been issued withe reg no. HRH 1
They then donated it to the then Priness for use on her private car.
Rest in piece dear lady.
Bodge.

Again, not wanting to be the first, but ...

HRH Princess Anne, personally known to many more of us than HM QEII, as her Mother did, also continues to give sterling service to our country and the Commonwealth. Her part in escorting her Majestic Mother on her final journey, in front of so many well wishers, can not have been easy. Bless 'er cotton socks, well done lass !

How about three cheers for the Princess Royal, Hip Hip....
