1973 -1981, 8 years, an odd length of time to have served (?).
lt seems we served at least 6 years along side of each other, although l was posted away for four of those years.
The name rings many bells, but the bell tower echos so loudly that l can't hear myself think.

We are going away for a few days, only a couple of hours drive from home. We have long wanted to overnight in a cave house. Thousands if people still live in caves in Spain and rent out rooms ... will update you all afterwards.

With hindsight, speaking as a single soldier, l would say 'Freedom' ! l mean we always had food provided and a place to sleep. Our taxes were deducted at source and so we never had to fill in a tax return. Essentially we were free to do whatever we wanted in our time off and the army offered us lots...
